Grinders

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Yeah, my guards are sitting in a bag beside me. They will get attached before I grind anymore, promise! :)

Im worried at the amount of grinders im seeing with no guards fitted, its not very safe guys,

Putting bigger wheels on a unit than its designed for isnt safe either especially if the guards have to be removed,

Yeah, its a big grinder, it may have had its own stand at one point, but we bought it refurbished, and I just bolt it to the worktable when I need to use it,

It doesn't have any guards either :shame:

Bud Wiser wrote:Another question about wheels.

I find the finer grade grinding wheel to be much better for making picks then the more coarse one. I'm thinking of just getting another finer grade wheel and replace the coarse one. I haven't found a use where the coarse grinder comes in handy yet, it pulls the metals more and also vibrates the picks more too.

Any one use the coarse wheel for making picks?

thx

I don't use the course wheel for picks, but do tend to use for heavier duty stuff like bolsters/cold chissels etc.
Although you you can use it to take off the bulk material and then go on to the fine wheel. I use it to get the teeth off the hacksaw blades, (hate teeth on picks  )

Unbreakable, thats a BIG grinder. I haven't seen one like that for a long time. If you don't have the guards, at least wear some good eye protection. What speed does that thing turn at? Do you know?

PiP, those pictures are fine.

I'll make it a bit easier on everyone. Yes, I did want to see grinders, but I will accept whatever power tools you use to make picks. I know Ray has a Dremel, so even he gets a shot at this.

Keep trying guys.

I have no idea what those disks are, but since you want to see more grinders here is mine. My dremel being the ham it is just had to get in the pic too.

How about a small hint on those items?

This is the power tool I use to make picks!

A very intelligent man once said:
"If you can make a key, you can make a pick"'

I would like to know if I can be officially approved for participation :?:

Gee Bud, your bench looks almost as bad as mine. Look for newer pics from me once I clean up that part of the shop.

At any rate, as for hints think automotive.

Wrenchman, you're cleared to participate.
I tried that key machine trick before, but the cutter wheel on mine wasn't up to handling steel.

So far one person has come close, but they didn't get it close enough.

Keep trying guys. Take a good look at the picture, and you should be able to figure it out.
