When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Ah yes, a lesson well learned.
No sleep also equals no grinding. Glad you weren't hurt learning it.
Oh, and the picks aren't too bad either. Keep up the good work.

Thats why when i use an emory wheel.. i crank up the RPMS
Everytime i slip and hit my finger.. it corterizes.. or h/e you spell it.. just looks like a black scratch.
Grinders aren't that bad but yours bites.. get out the news paper.
I already did that to man i feel your pain reminds me of faceplanting on my skateboard some yearsago

If you want a challenge, make a ball pick.
Its only real use is for wafer locks and such, but it can help develop your skills with curves if you can make a full ball that actually looks like a full ball.
Another rake like the C rake is a good thing to try on the grinder as well.

You can make the entire gamut of lock picks on a grinder if you think about where you make your grinds. If you aren't entirely comfortable with that, you can finish with files.
As you can see, I cheat a little with mine using that really thin wheel, but it can be done. My other toy for making picks is a disc and belt sander.
Yes I do have, and use a dremel and they can be a great help, but you can do without it.

the pick that gave me
the most trouble/frustration was an L rake
it's the only pick i've kept after a week
i make 3-5 new picks every week
when the week is over - out they go
and start making a new set
hook - diamond - rocker - rake

L-rakes you use a carbite bit spaced to fit a pin or 2 in each.

nice picks - they look almost exactly like the first set of picks I ever ground out.
My picks became infinitely better when I discovered how to use a dremel tool with precision, and how to effectively use my files.

well, i have commercial picks, but i plan on getting a dremel, id get a grinder, but im in an apartment, so no real room/tolerance of noise. i think a dremel wouldnt be as bad. maybe im wrong?
once i get a dremel thoigh, its my plan to find some junk yards and go crazy on anything and everything that could be of use. including some auto locks to fiddle with. hehehehehe......
nice picks btw, i hope my picks turn out half as good when i make them!
oh, and if you dont know what an L rake or anything is, try browsing around southord.com and check out like, page 81-95 or something for individual picks with pics and names.
