The weather is still crappy, and it was a busy week, so I decided to do something more relaxing and low-skilled; I decided to make some bump keys.
With all the hype and question on bumping, it was time for me to give it a shot too. The tri-circle bump key does not work at all, whereas the LW4 works on some locks, but not on others.
As they say about bad worksmen and their tools, could someone tell me if my failure to bump well is due to my lack of bump-fu, or due a problem with my tools (aka the keys)? I know the LW4 key doesn't look that good, but I would have expected the tricircle one to work.

The Tricircle one doesnt seem to match the cuts on the key but i could be wrong, get rid of the burrs for a start,
The sloppyier the lock the harder they are to bump, i think its a bit of both your tool and technique,

UWSDWF:
Thanks for the link, but I read that guide before I started making the keys. I reread it while making them, and I reread it another time after having made them. I also checked up on youtube and toool and various other sites. In all honesty, I felt your reply quite annoying, so please excuse this rather long post.
Having said that, I do understand your reaction asking me to read up myself, especially with the many people who come to the forum with questions that could be answered if they did their own research.
Shrub:
Yet again, you're one of the first people to reply, thanks. I'll get out the sandpaper tomorrow and deburr it. What do you think about the LW4?

The spacing seems off on it, it doesnt seem evenly spread,
A good way is to get the plu out of a cylinder you want to bump and put your bump key in the plug and look throguh the holes, you can quickly and easily see how far out if at all your cuts are, doesnt help you on the padlock though,
