Successfully picked a lock...but didn't. (help?)

So...now I've got another problem. It's totally different than my previous problem, so i didn't know if it should be within that post, or created in a new one. If the mods so desire, they can mix it with my last thread.

Anyways.

Thanks to maxxed, I've successfully removed the lock apparatus from the knob. I can't get the pins out without a pair of pliers (which I don't have) because of metal things blocking certain places, but I'm having some success with raking. I've gotten to the point where I can tip the lock upside-down, and all of the bottom pins will fall upwards (if that makes sense) to the top of the lock, and none of them seem to be having any interaction with any spring.

From reading the MIT and other lock picking things, that makes it seem like I've gotten the top pins to bind above the shear line, and the lower pins are moving freely in the lower area. If that were true though, then the lock should be picked, and free to open, which isn't happening. Below is a picture looking down the upside-down lock, with all the bottom pins lying against the shear line (I think). If I turn the lock right side up, they drop to their normal position. Also, if I let go of the tension wrench, I can hear the top pins click back into position. Does anyone have any idea what's going on here?

Sorry if I overexplained that.

So let me get this straight. When you turn the lock upside down the pins fall? As if there was no spring?
Or
When you push on a pin with a pick it goes down, and when you take your pin off it springs back up?

I'm not sure what your trying to say. Use lighter tension, and keep trying to pick.

We cant mix posts/threads for future referance

You have false set a top pin, the top pin is either trapped or you have false set a spool pin,

If you further press each of the pins you will notice that on one or some of the pins the plug will try to turn back on the tension, if that happens youve false set a spool,

Otherwise you need to keep going as youve trapped a pin not fully above the shear line, i would suggest its the last pin you set because if the others were trapped the following ones wouldnt set,

Thanks shrub! My Early morning brain lacks the ability to read, and tie sentences together.

Banpei, you'll get it bud. Just keep loose tension and keep practicing.
