When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

Master locks

I can pick a Master lock #15 with no problem. It's the master lock #3 that kicks my butt sometimes. :P

Before you pick a lock:
The first thing that you should do is check to make sure that
the lock is your's and secondly make sure its not in use.

I have a #3 that can be raked in a half-second, I have another #3 that I need to spend 10 minutes on pin-by-pin. It is pinned very oddly, more difficult than any other Master padlock I have. The number has little to do with it.

If you want to find a nice padlock with difficulty in between your #15 and #3, go shopping and look for a lock that has keys with slightly more variation in the depth of cut. Master locks are nice in that regard because it's easy to see which locks will be easy and which will be more difficult since the keys are easily viewable in the package they come in.

Good luck :)

There are good master locks and junk master locks. #1 to #15 are junk.

The brass, steel, etc, and pro line are very well built and good masters. They contain spool pins, serrated and mushroom pins, and feel like real locks :)

Basically laminated master locks are junk.

A few of the non-laminated brass locks are very poorly made as well, though. The 130 is one that comes to mind. It has 4 pins unlike the 575 etc.
