As in the Kwikset Titan construction ball which would make a contractor's keys useless once the home owner turns their key? No.

I believe these were discussed before, a while back I think, and they are in pin stack 1 and 2 for the purpose of reducing pin to key friction when putting the key into the keyway. These locks were used in institutions, schools, industrial complexes, and were designed for lots of wear and tear. The ball bearing in this case just reduces wear.

Yeah, back before I had a decent camera I had posted up cell phone pics of my corbin with the 2 ball bearings in stacks 1 and 2. It was the common opinion that this was for wear resistance. I'll try to find the thread...
