Theres a tool you might want to have a look at. Its called the Kwikset core remover. It removes cores from kwikset locks for quick and easy rekeying aparently. I've never exactly tried it, but thats aparently what its supposed to do.

that will damage the lock beyond repair if it is a deadbolt..

you are looking at puller that may work on knobsets but what you really need is a $12 dollar kwickset cylinder removal tool.

if you got a dead bolt just pry the spring cap off unless you got a follower than just pop off the c clip at the back of the plug

insert the key and turn the plug 90 degrees then stick your follower on the reaer and pull the plug out

Ah. Well I don't know too much about Kwikset cylander removers so take HeadHunter's word over mine. There is a general set of instructions for removing pins from a lock for practice in one of the lock picking books.

Its the one by Eddie the Wire. "The Complete Guide to Lockingpicking." It's also a good book in general. Lots of good info.

You dont really need that fancy removal tool to pop the cylinder out of a kwikset key in knob lock. It can be done with a pair of small screwdrivers, or a bit of metal cut to look like the > end of that tool, its just a real pain to do.

oh yeh, didnt think of lockpicks.com Thanks Chucklz. Another pinning question, Ive never come across a company that sells security pins, like mushroom, spool, serrated etc. shaped pins. Do they sell these? I would imagine so, as they are often found in locks, and it would be reasonable to pressume that the company manufacturing the pins would sell them seperately. Any one know of anything?

Thanks,

Technik

LAB makes a kit that has security pins in it. Lockpicks.com appears to sell LAB pin kits. I guess you could ask them if they would order the kit for you.
