I just discovered your site . . . looks very professional with serious discussions. The fact that it's NOT dedicated to thievery is refreshing (gettin kinda rare on the Internet). I'm not really interested in talking technique with anyone who has dishonest motives. Been there, done that, and suffered for it.
I am retired/disabled law enforcement w/limited mobility. About 20 years ago I took the Foley-Belsaw course (just Belsaw back then) purely for pursuing a life of crime . . .somehow wound up as a cop. Go figure. Grew up, I guess. A self-reformed hoodlum.
These days, with lots of time on my hands, I wander all over the internet where ever a whim may take me. I would like to learn CNC, with the intent of buying a router and maybe a laser in the future. But cnc can do a lot of things -why hasn't it been applied to locksmithing? It doesn't look like much has really changed other than "rapping" has been rediscovered as "bumping."
My goal, being pursued a the pace of a retarded, disabled snail, is to tinker around and maybe develop new tools for locksmiths and LE.
Ok, sorry for the ramble. I look forward to reading your archives and BSing with people with similar interests. Hopefully my experience can offer some contribution to your site. - Dave

I found this site googling "hold lock pick" under google images. I found a thread about building a snap pick from a coat hanger, which was awesome. I have been using the bottom (or top of the tension wrench) to leverage the pick, and I have done well on a 3 pin cheap lock, and gotten a 4 pin master lock 3 times, but I don't really have that much feal the way I'm doing it. I'm hoping to get pictures of how people hold their pick so that I can try different ways and find a way that gives me more feal. I'll make a new thread for that though, since I haven't found it in the forums.

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Cheers,
UWSDWF

Just saying hey! Just registered this fine morning, but I've been coming to this sight for quite some time learning all sorts of great material. Well, hopefully that was a sufficient introduction. Talk to everyone later.

Just wanna say a big hi from Melbourne, Australia!
I think lock picking is a great art form. And i know for sure that there are plenty of people here who agree with me. I'm fairly new but with patience and grit, i'll hopefully get to a stage where i'll be proud of.

I actually saw a kid in my school wearing a Lockpicking101.com t-shirt.
And here I am!
I never picked a lock, I barely know how my key works, let alone the lock itself, matter of fact. I barely think anything of my key, so when I saw that, I thought, hey, here's an oppurtunity to learn something haha.
=)
Hope to learn some new thing!
Thanks,
Nelson

I also enjoy paintball, airsoft, fencing and rugby. I live in the Virgin Islands (US)

Hey Ive just got into lock picking after I bought this cheapo set at defcon(well at lpcon in defcon). Ive successfully opened all the desk locks in my house, all bathroom locks, and front door lock (this one scared me how easy it was a Kwikset Titan). I've found your info pretty useful Ive come by in the past month just to dick around and read and I would like to say thank you for hosting such a site.

No problem, im wanting to do a laser cutter myself but the lasers are hard to get at a good price for messing about with, ive toyed with the idea of edm as well but a router is the easiest option by far if you want to just get into cnc stuff

I'm looking to try something new and related to security. Been breaking windows and linux machines for testing purposes, as well as electronic access systems, but wanted a new challenge, so here I am.
