For some reason, it's always the cheap locks that give me the hardest time. I think part of the problem could be that the tolerences are even less in cheaper locks which can actually make them harder to pick. Of course, it could just be me and I have a mental block on cheap locks :)

honestly, throw your pratice lock it. They are way too easy and are not a real enough dramatization of real locks. They are toys.

Ace does use Master so it can be a master with the ace name on it. Chances are it's a cheap master too, and those can really suck. The Brinks is a better quality lock but probably has at least one spool pin which is throwing you. A better lock to practice with spool pins is the Master #140, 141, and 142.

I would skip all the masters from #1 to 15. JUNK. Not reliable, not consistant, hit or miss, will drive you nuts. They can best be defeated by raking, so don't worry about them.

if can,t pick ace locks (look like master) week later-can't pick-brinks still-pick southord locks-sugestion: Write in clear sentences with proper punctuation and then clear your mind of any other lock you've been working on and concentrate only on the lock in your hand. Then occasionally let your mind wander a bit while still trying. next thing you know you've got it open again. In the beginning a lot of times the second I stopped concentrating so hard... "POP"

watch tv

Postby raimundo » 20 Oct 2006 8:30

you should watch tv programs that you like while picking a lock without any concentration on it, the essential feel is so subconsious that you are probably screwing it up with all the focus and frustration you add to the problem, let your fingers do it subconsiously while you watch tv, and when it opens, just lock it up and do it again and again. You are learning when you do this, and you are not over intellectualizing the process which is part of the problem that you are experiencing.
