Turn it the same as if you were using the key.

I think this calls for a DO NOT USE LOCKS THAT ARE IN USE. Get your tension wrench and turn it in the direction the keys goes and give it a good jiggle. If that does not work put the pick back in and hit the pins back up while jiggling the tension wrench. Also try to turn it back the way it was before you picked it. The plug should just lock as it was before. That picture did make me laugh though I am sorry.

Did joo eva try pickin it in the otha direction???

Seriously, do not pick locks in use. The lock does need to be picked in the other direction though.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Yah. Since it is on the right side of the door. You probably turned it the locking direction. You can either pick it back the other way or use a plug spinner to turn it back the other way and that will probably unlock it.

If that is the correct way to turn it, something else must be wrong with the lock.

Ha ha. I'm pretty sure someone suggested this in a previous thread, but an archive of these threads really needs to be created. It'd serve a dual purpose as both entertainment and a scare-tactic to keep new pickers from working on locks in use. Kind of like those "Red Asphault" videos they show in driving school

Key in knob locks to the left, but some times easier to pick to the right and use a plug spinner. Is that cheating :)

You picked it in the wrong direction.

On the off chance its one of those really odd locks that does pick in that direction, the latch may be jammed. In that case, just push or pull the knob while turning the plug.

Now that you got it, here is the obligatory warning.

Don't pick ANY locks that you rely on unless you have no other choice.

If you damage it, you will have to replace it, and that is a pain when its your front door.

Basically its a spring, attached to a blade similar to a tension wrench, and a handle.

You wind up the spring, insert the blade into the lock, and hold the handle when you let go of the spring.

It spins the lock in the other direction so fast it doesn't have a chance to re-lock.

This is important for two reasons.
1. If you have accidentally picked in the wrong direction, you really don't want to pick it again.
2. Some locks pick far easier in the locking direction as opposed to the unlocking direction. If you can pick into the locked direction, you use the plug spinner to flip it pst the lock point, and then use any other turning tool to open the lock.

Below is the link to the lockpicks.com page for plug spinners:
