Mortice pick

Postby stewroper » 22 Oct 2006 13:24

Hi :D all, this is my first post.

Interested in learning how to pick lever locks. Im from the UK and found a website that sells lever picks but I was just wondering if someone could tell me the difference between a 6 gauge and a 7 gauge 2-in-1 mortice pick please. And it also states in the description left hand or right hand - can anyone throw some light on it for me ? many thanks

5 gauge is bigger than a 7 Gauge, a 5 gauge is the most common,

Be sure the website youve found sells to non lockies, the picks sold by the ones that do sell to non lockies tend to be poorly made,

A 2 in 1 will only open non curtained locks,

As said, if you take a search and specifically in the european section then you will find guides on how to pick lever locks and how to simply make your own tools,

Handed picks are used when the lock is on a certain side of the door, if you want one tool to open either side of the lock you should go for a universal one,
