best restricted key blank?

Postby raptoreb » 19 Oct 2006 4:51

A friend of mine and I were comparing our work keys and most of them are standard BEST keyways. Some of them however, are labeled X keyways. We didn't have much time so I dont have how the end of the key looked memorized. I'm just curious, I've seen all of the standard best keyways, and then all of the restricted best keyways I've seen/heard about have a W and some other letter identifying them. Is this a standard restricted keyway or could it be something completely different? I'm just curious having been an amatuer lockie and studied many SFIC systems and lurked here for a long time. Thanks in advance.

I've seen the Ilco catalog many times. I don't physically have the key since I check them out when I work so I can't compare how the end looks. I was just curious about the x keyway label it was given and whether or not thats a standard keyway, and presumably its restricted. I've also seen the one picture someone uploaded that included alot of the restricted keyways but all of them were labeled "W" followed by a letter. Are there other restricted keyways in addition to the W type? Thats what I'm curious about.

Best deals with the end users on systems not locksmiths. they are your better bet.

What are SFIC systems, and what does SFIC stand for?

Awesome. Thank you. Most of that was over my head though and I have a lot to search now, like.

MACS restriction
Phanton Key
Mortise Cylinder
