I think either DB or Rom should write it, they both have a flair for writing and certainly enough background

Some one should as they make no mention of lock picking as a sport or hobby at all in the main definitition of lock picking!

While both D_B and myself are quite opinionated people, I don't think that it would be unexpected for us to work together.

I think it may be an interesting project as D_B and I speak frequently.

Perhaps I will mention it to him the next time we talk.

It's a worthwhile project, for sure. I'm not sure I'm ready to make any commitments to it right now. I've got a lot of stuff on my plate just at this moment.

The biggest thing holding me back is that I don't have a foggy clue how wiki works, what the rules are for making a page, what type of content to include in an article, etc... And I can't really commit the time to learning all that.

However, if someone asked me to write an article and gave me clearly defined parameters for its content, I could probably oblige that request. Then the article could be modified, edited, etc as needed.

I can make that offer, but that's about as far as it goes in the near future. Perhaps a few weeks or a couple months down the road will be different.

Well I'm glad DB and Rom has shown interest in this, it really would help bring more awareness of what locksport is and that we exist! It is a worthwhile project and I hope Rom or some body knowledgeable picks up on it and takes DB's generous offer for help if needed! I'd love to do it, but honestly I lack the knowledge and would prefer to see some one more knowledgeable and worthy to carry this out in the style it rightfully deserves!

Its coming, and I certainly hope that D_B and I are the ones who do it.

Both of us are insanely busy right now, but oddly ehough, D_B seems to be this weird hyper guy that just manages to do more than I do. I've never quite tried to figure it out.

I have two books on the go, and there is some thought as to doing a third, and I haven't even signed off on either of the first two.

I have a lot of hardware projects going on right now that I hope to unveil in the very near future.

Add that to four kids and the houshold stuff, and I always seem to need more hours in my days. Oh, and I have to sleep. I have been ORDERED to sleep by my doctor, and my wife is quite strict about it.

In any case, there are things coming, and hopefully they will be very soon. After that, I think that D_B and I could look at the wikipedia entry on lock sport.

wiki articles always have links, I think links to toool, SSdev, barrywels blackbag and Security.org and crypto.org would be good to have in an article.

Well, like I said, I'm not adverse to writing up an article. I can pound something like that out in a couple hours. Heck, I spent a couple hours cleaning my house this morning and that'll be time wasted in a day or two.

However, I have no idea what kind of parameters there are on wiki pages. I'm not sure the general format that is considered acceptable. I have seen pages that have been contested because they didn't read "like" a wiki page, but yet, I have no idea what "like a wiki page" means. As well, I would need someone to do some fact checking once I'd written it. I've got a pretty good handle on the development of Locksport, but I may not be 100% accurate on all details (like for instance, when exactly SSDeV came into existance... seems to me it was about 10 years or so? I've heard TOOOL was about 7? Might be accurate. Might not. Not sure.)

But if someone could outline the basic content that would be expected, and fill me in on anything I need to know (with respect to things like "point of view", tone, etc...), I would be happy to bang something out.

Just some ideas to consider forsake of discussion and keeping this thread active and in the spot light

Brief history of locksport. This would be really interesting read! Where did it begin, Germany? How it progressed. How it has brought public awareness to security flaws (bumping, etc).

Why people enjoy picking as a hobby! Some coverage about the locksport activities and competition.

Where locksport can be found, best of the best links!

And of course a way to work in LP101 in to this, which just happens to be a great place for lockies and hobbyiests to mingle and share information. This shows that many locksmiths recognize the hobbyists.

I would drop a few big names around too

This will be great if we can get locksport in wiki!

[Brag] Well, as a wikia administrator, and an avid wikipedian, i suggest[/brag]

After reading your areticle on Locksport, I considered ctrl+v it to the page, but then that violates laws. IN short, a wikipedia page contains a brief introductory of the word at the top, with a small picture. Then go into history of the sport, how it is played/ games (you may want ot reverse those), Organizations that play it, and finish with theory, clubs, or major competitions. Copy and paste it to the wiki page, and someone will edit and wikify it.
