Finger Print Locks

Postby Tyler Durden » 25 Oct 2006 11:13

What i'm trying to find out is "can any fingerprint locks be fitted to upvc doors?" I've tried asking a supplier twice, but they cant be bothered to call me back like they said they would. They look straight forward enough to fit and i can onl;y find info one fitting to wooden doors. Hope someone can help.
Cheers

try asking them about their "biometric locks" they might take you a little more seriously as that is the proper name

also I don't know much about upvc doors but I'd assume that if you can mount a lock on it then you'd be able to mount a bio-lock aswell

Yeah I did ask them about "biometric locks" and as for the upvc door they commonly have a meteal strip with mushrooms , hooks or rollers on it. which means to keep that in place the lock would need to fit into the mech case. Thanks for the reply mate

Cheers toomush2drink

I take it its a mechanical digital lock.

Do you know any suppliers that stock it?

Asking will save me trawling though my catologues. I'm not being lazy. HONEST!

keyprint in edinburgh i think also sell bio locks
but i wouldent recomend fixing to upvc doors but thats just me haveing fitted the stuff and knowing a lot about it i wouldent trust upvc to mount anything on
think logicly if the fixings work there way loose from the screws you only have one chance to fit this ie repair screws withch are screws with a larger stagered thread and if that strips the upvc then you have had it it can be costly reparing holed in upvc in some cases even more than calling out a lockie

no i saw that episode on discovery.....
yes and no they can be bypassed only if installed improperly.....
more importantly though most places use them for access auditing then for access egress so in that sort of situation mythbusters 0 the purpose of use 1
