I picked the Schlage Everest (high security ? lol...) in about 15 seconds.
it has a side bar. If the lock has not been picked by anyone here with a good guide, i can write a guide up and let everyone know how it was done.
This is the Common version of the side bar, used in most places.
Side bar key way C1 23.
Let me know, maybe i'll post pictures of the tension wrench construction and cylinder picking, step by step.

I didn't think the Everest had a sidebar. I know it has the side milling on the key for the check pin. But a sidebar?
Are we talking about this lock?

... or is there some other Everest I'm not aware of.

I made a post somewhere about picking these with no special tools a while back and described the process a bit. A breakdown would never hurt though as I did not disassemble the lock in the video as I usually do.
For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

Yeah, more info is always appreciated. I'd love to see your tools and a breakdown if you're willing.

He could be talking about the Primus. Everests aren't any diffrent to pick except you have the check pin.
If all fails, use nitroglycerine.

I doubt he picked a Primus in 15 seconds, I really doubt it...

Besides... he's a trading locksmith working for one of the biggest companies in BC. I'm sure he knows the difference between an Everest and a Primus.
So... am I right then, or is there something I don't know? I was under the impression that an Everest is and Everest. There's no different models that actually have sidebars, is there?

I wonder, just based on the wording, whether he created a special wrench for bypassing the check pin?
Just a guess, please elaborate.

Yeah, if I had to bet, I'm thinking he used the term "sidebar" a bit loosely and was referring to the side milling on the key.
