Bump key filed correctly?

Postby misoup » 24 Oct 2006 20:26

Sorry for blurry pic. Is the bump key filed down correctly? It's for kwikset locks. I had to hand file it because I don't have access to a code machine and currently not ready to buy from ebay. Hopefully it's decent and will somehow bump a lock. Any advice?

that looks better then some of the machine cut ones i have seen... you may want to take the valleys down just a touch extra (experiment first) or you might want to even take that key to wal-mart and have them duplicate it for you.

it should indeed bump locks and good work with that steady hand!

You know, It doesn't even have to be perfect if it works it works, I just randomly filed down a key the other day for a lock I bought and it worked.. So I tried it on a couple other locks with the same keyway and it worked... Quiet interesting.. :)
My stupid site went down so no sig :(

Thanks for the compliments :D . I'll try to experiment more since so far, I've been unsuccessful.

the key looks pretty good.
I wonder if you are having trouble insurting it in the lock?
the tip of the key looks a little flat....making it hard to rise the pins as you insurt the key.. ?

The most important thing is to get the trailing edge right, otherwise you won't get it out of the lock.
