Cylinder Suggestions

Postby bumpit » 6 Nov 2006 21:32

I have picked a number of locks during my short time lock picking. I decided that I prefer to pick cylinder locks more than Padlocks. I have already picked my Weiser 5 pin cylinder and was wondering what would be the next step to take. I don't like the fact that padlocks have such restricted keyways. It could be possible I need some slime lines and I might appreciate them more. My Masterlock #140 for some odd reason has still not been picked and it has severely annoyed me since I have spent over 12 hours on it.(I know, I suck) Any suggestions would be great. Thanks.

Try repinning the weiser to a few different patterns, as for what to buy next try a Schlage, 6 pin Yale, Corbin or Sargent. Really it depends on what you can readily find, if you can locate some locks in a surplus store you may find several for cheap

Some people probably see this as cheating (I do), but look at the key for the #140. Mine has a really deep cut for the first pin, then a really shallow cut, then two medium cuts. And I think the very back pin (4th) is the security pin. It took me a few hours the first time, but I have gotten it a 4 times now, and I've only been picking for about a month.

Good luck with it, I'm happy to have it on my picked list :D
