The unpickable lock

Postby Availor » 8 Nov 2006 8:12

All the companies investing enormous amounts of money to develope an unpickable lock.... I think I found the formula: It's so simple but seriously, it actually works.

Take a good cylinder, like a mul-t-lock and just put it in a salt water until it is covered with rust (or just take an old lock). You can't feel the pins, you can't use the bump technique since when you hit the blank key all the pins will just stay in place and will not return....

Well its not totaly unpickable, but old rusty locks are much harder to pick

'Unpickable' but likely inoperable with the key also.

I'm with Illusion on this one. If its that bad, chances are the darn key won't work either. Which only brings you back to the ultimate lock pick.

The drill.

Well of course not everything is perfect, but if you want the perfect safety you'll need to fight with the key a bit

If the lock was rusty, how would the pins return down? I have seen corroded locks and you can't even get the pins to move. :?
If all fails, use nitroglycerine.

Yes, but how will you get in and out of your house/business when you can't move the bolt?

heh, heh, heh. If only it were so simple, I'd make sure all my locks are rusted !

True, though. A few imperfections do make the lock a hell of a lot harder to pick.
