For the best book out there on high security locks and their operation, take a look at amazon.com for High-Security Mechanical Locks An Encyclopedic Reference. Written by our very own site member Greyman! A true 5 Star read!!

HAHA! I would love to mount that on my dorm room desk. Right next to my laptop. Yea, I don't think I'll be gettin a grinder anytime soon...

As mentioned, try using a Dremel but the battery operated one, as they are not as loud as the plug-in type and the only noise you will have to worry about is the grinding sound which can easily be drowned out with music.

You can pick up one of those and a small hobby vise at some suppliers for around $35 USD.

You're in a dorm? Whats the problem?

If its anything like ours used to be you could install a machine shop in there, and nobody would really notice.

At any rate, you can probably find any number of places on campus where you can use a grinder and they won't care what you are making.
