military padlock

this lock dwarfs the s&g 833. in all aspects, yes, ALL aspects.
picking, cutting, drilling and so on.
Ceramics prevent drilling. the shackle is 24mm steel/ceramic

I do not want to post better pics since this lock is not comercially available.

I changed the cylinder to a standard assa scd for the photos.
to make you better understand the size of if i put a beer can by the lock

kewl. big and shiny. Who makes it and what kind of cylinder does it use? Why did you change it to an ASSA scd?

I'd still rather take a 5-pound military Hi-Shear and replace the medeco KIK in it with an Abloy Protec KIK (yeah, they make 'em, yeah, it would fit) :D

I've got an 831B that I would do that with but I can't get the bloody thing disassembled--I've got the control key, and the padlock is new surplus, but the shackle just WON'T come out :x . Anyone have any ideas?

I have 2 of the locks (831b) have no problems. Do the keys open it? If you turn the control key counterclockwise does the shackle open?

HAHA! I got it!

This just reminded me of it, and I went and messed with it again. If anyone else if having similar trouble, it's probably just stuck--if you turn the control key counter-clockwise and the shackle doesn't want to come out, try *pushing* in with the key and turning at the same time.

Woohoo! :D

Now, I just need an Abloy KIK to stick in it. Shouldn't be hard (they really don't turn up very often as the demand for KIK's from the people who use Abloy, mainly Europeans, doesn't exist) :? . There's some on ebay right now, but I think it includes 10 of them and a mortise cylinder, which I don't need and can't afford.
