Master keying lever locks?

Postby Shrub » 23 May 2005 11:08

I have heard this done and have seen a sidpick post on the chubb 110 being master keyed,
Is there anywhere i can read a guide on doing this or a link to some pics?
What lever locks can be done or can they all be done?

Also is there a guide anywhere on standard cylinder lock master key systems? By that i mean is there a set of standard/suggested pins to use for a certain number of locks and keys?

I may need to master key a factory but need multi masters i.e 1 master to open all doors, 2 masters that will open 1 differant group in 2 areas of those doors and the normal keys which will only open their own doors, eg key A will open every door, key B will open doors 1-5 key C will open doors 6-10 and then they all also have their individual keys,

I have done master key systems but not done any complex ones like this, what is the best way to work it all out?

im not hot on master keying cylinders, i tend to be lazy and purchase these from the manufacturer.

The 110 is easily master keyed, as are many warded lever locks, though on the whole most are not.
chris b would be a mine of info in this area.

Hi Just got on a computer so hope I can help!!

The 110's and butters locks are the only ones I have mastered although 3 lever unions were mastered too (I think by the warding)

110's and butters have extra notches cut into them - they must be 2 differs apart though or else you'll have a massive gate.

I have found some 110's that you could open with a blank the gates are so big!

butters were easily mastered and were used in schools and hospitals

Mastered 110's from chubb come with a different gauge barrel and curtain and the original keys are silver instead of brass

easily add the differ gate with a flat warding file. The souber detainer reader helps - just mark the detainer with a permanent pen and file from there!
