Winshield Wiper Blades

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

I asked this local service station to save me old wiper blades. I went today and he had 50 pairs for me!!!!!!!!!! The way I figure it, that's about 300 tension tools. JACKPOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm gonna be doing both. It was just amazing that 2 days after I called him, he had 50 pairs for me.
It's probably a life time supply.

good idea, as the wiper blades must be old ones,

but perfect for what you want them for :D

Nice result, I manage to find maybe 2 or 3 a week in carparks and laybys etc but I do have a freindly mechanic, I may well give him a call tomorrow :)

IMO, the wider of the two strips are better for making picks, but both work gret for making different size tension wrenches.

Heh, you're lucky. Most of the ones I get, each side is the same width. Maybe its just the nature of the ones around here or something.

Yeah the ones I got are the same size on both sides as well. Already made 6 tension tools. I like the feel of these much better than the one from SouthOrd.

I should have explained a little better.

I didn't mean to imply that both inserts in the same wiper are different widths (they are the same). However, there are three different types of inserts here; Plastic (no good), Thin 3/32" or 2mm, and the wider ones 5/32" or 4mm.

I buy mine at Wal-Mart for around $3 US so I can pick and choose what I want to use, I also go for the longest wipers possible to get more, I believe the name brand is Ilco that comes in a yellow package.

I could get them free, but they are usually all the same size which are the 3/32" or 2mm ones.

Sorry about that.

For some reason its kinda hard for me to run across them? Every now and then, its normaly that plastic insert. Which is useless. Ill would pay you if you could send me one or two?

He might not still have them as that post was five years ago.

You should keep looking in the trash barrels of various car repair places, and carwashes.

I assume a Auto Dump might be a good place to look for windshield wiper blades, considering all of the cars would be old there.
