Oops, sorry bud, didn't notice your question until now. Are you asking about the 831B or the 748 I mentioned?
You bought an American 748 from me; I purchased 3 at once and sold 2 of them, you got one, and I also kept one which I still have. I've picked it several times, although it's been a while since I've done it and it usually takes me at least 10 or 15 minutes on a good day. If you want to learn to pick Americans with all those serrated pins and whatnot, I'd pick a different American to start on because the 748 is one of the few Americans fully loaded to 6 pins instead of the usual 5--most Americans have a 6-pin cylinder loaded to 5 pins, but the 'high-security' Americans, like the 748, have the usual 6-pin cylinder but it's fully loaded to 6 pins. One of the few exceptions to this rule is the American 5200, which is the key-retaining model the military uses, and has a 5-pin cylinder with 5 pin stacks, instead of the usual 6-pin cylinder with 5 pin stacks.
Oh, and if anyone can help me, I've got my 831B fully disassembled except the bloody shackle doesn't want to come out--what's keeping it there and how do I get it out?
