Raking, also known as "scrubbing" is a method of opening locks by using a rake pick, or even another pick in a fast in and out motion.

Commonly raking is done by placing the pick at the rear of the cylinder, pushing up against the pins and very quickly yanking the pick out.

This can often result in a seperation of the pins similar to a pick gun, but more frequently, sets the driver pins at the shear line through random chance.

It is a non specific method, and while it can something open a lock very quickly, it is not considered a good technique. In some cases, no amount of raking will work and the picker must return to regular single pin picking.
