Lock picking progression

I am new to lockpicking and i was wondering what locks are good to start on. right now i am trying to learn on a Best 1320. I have read the MIT guide to lock picking, but i think i need to start with something more simple.

Can any of you give some easy beginner locks, moderate and hard?

Yep, same advice. Start with something simple.

A cheapo Walmart deadbolt is good.

Great, thanks for the help. come to think of it, i probably have an old deadbolt in the basement somewhere.

What about padlocks though?

stick to dead bolts but if you really need a padlock try a masterlock no.3

Mountain Security Padlocks, the smaller brass kind, are also pretty easy, they're what I started with. Also, since they tend to mar/bend/scratch easy you can see if you need to calm down and do less forceful things (I broke one... ) I Did find, however, that the Mountain Security deadbolt has 2 spools in it, or at least, the keyed on both sides version I have does. (2 per side)

Always try to get a rekeyable padlock so you can work up from 1 pin in case you're stuck.
