goodlock for a beginner?

I bought a Master lock its a 4 pin padlock 803D is this a good lock for a beginner?

yes it is a very beginer lock try using a half diamond I find that best on theses locks

Try a weiser with 2 of the pins removed(the last 2 works easiest) That is how i started

ok thanks, I'm in the process of making my own picks now (just trying to find a way to get out to the shop without dad asking questions haha) oh well if he asks any questions I'll just answer him like I always do, by asking a question back. anyway thanks for the replies I wasn't really sure what to get they had some brinks locks that basically said they had the same features as this one but it was slimmer so I wasn't sure if it would be as easy to manuver the tools around in, I'll probably go buy it and a deadbolt some time tonight. I've found padlocks are generally a bit harder, especially if you can't take it apart (I have no idea if your padlock disassembles or not). See if you can get some normal door locks so you can practice with different number and configurations of pins.

ok I've got a medium half diamond pick made and a tension wrench and its pretty easy to unlock the master lock the first time took me like 3 minutes then the second time was about a minute and 45 seconds. This is fun
