Need advice

I just bought a 1995 Mercury Tracer from a garage. The previous owner gave the car to the garage to sell on consignment, as he was losing his vision. The gargae replaced the steering column, so the ignition is keyed differently from the doors. Neither the gargae nor the owner have the door keys. I tried to go through the dealer using the VIN, but was told it was too old. Is there any way to either create another key,...or use jigglers, or something so that I can lock and unlock my doors?

Call a good auto locksmith and have him recode all the locks to use a single key. Either match the new ignition, or redo the ignition to match the doors.

If you don't mind having two keys, there are a few places a locksmith will tell you to look to find your key code. Once he has that, he can cut you a key that will operate the doors and trunk.

Good luck,

Thank you, Romstar, for your reply.

I certainly would have posted this question to the appropriate forum, had I access to it.

As I have little money to pay for a locksmith,....I have drilled holes in the lock lever, located on the door frame near the window. Hopefully, this should make it earier to fish it open with a coat hanger.
