Mounting Locks

Thats a nice piece of work Technik. I'm just curious; is there any particular reason for the metal face plate, or is it just asthetics?

Thanks for the kind words Mightymouse. I put the metal face plate on to keep the locks from fallng out (check out pic 2, I have locks that are inside the block, and techniques like raking and using pick gun can cause the lock to fall out.) Plus, it makes it look good too!

hey technik! - that's the same padlock that I have - I've had it for a few months now and I can't pick it - the keyway is like something out of a modern art exibition. (mind you my key looks like: /\_/\_/\_ ) but it's so frustrating to even try to pick. have you been able to?

seeing as you have a digital camera (I assume), would you be able to post a pick of the keyway for our american brothers to see what we have to deal with down in Oz? if you stick a pick next to it for proportion....?

I was able to fit a slimline wrench in the top of the keyway (only just though)...

OK, I posted this last night, and the post seems to have dissapeared!

I dunno what happened, but i'll post again:

Here are my 2 new lock mounts. I recently purchased a cheap deadlock and knob set and wanted to mount these, so I made a mount similar to Unlocks (not as pretty though!) THen, I bought some auto door locks from a toyota at a flea market, and mounted them on a simple mount, a piece of metal in a V shape.

My 3 lock mounts:

Feel free to take ideas from these, I dont mind.

(Whitehat, I'm in the process of taking photos of the lock now, I cant pick it yet either! Show those Yanks...)

unlock, the work bench that you got the mount bolted to, did you make a whole table, or is it just a flat piece of wood resting on top of another table?

The bench you see that has all the locks, pick cases and mounting board, is just that...a work bench that I bought. The mount itself isn't secured to the table. I added 6 pieces of thin rubber stickers on the bottom of it which keeps it from sliding.

Hope this is what you wanted to know.
