I have to file some keys, how do you guys debur the new key, I do not have a grinder. Thanks in advance...........................drummond

A wire bush. Failing that, grab some sand paper and wrap it around a chop stick or something.

Be gentle if you sand it.

Thanks for the reply Romstar, when you say wire brush do you mean the small brass ones or in a dremel or the like..........drummond

No brass. Steel.

Try not to use something like that in the Dremel unless you have to. If you don't have a proper wire wheel, go for the hand held wire brush. The kind used to clean rust and scale off other metal parts.

You can get them in a variety of sizes.

Didn't know they made them. I am more familiar with them for other products.

I will often just use a flat file and smooth the new key on both sides gently, being careful to just remove the burrs and not file into the key.

The rest of us clutzes would just gouge the key. :lol:

No, seriously though, thats as good a suggestion as any. It will teach you to file lightly, thats for sure.

I mean I will get a hand held wire brush, I picked a small one up and it does a good job. Thanks again for the replies.......drummond
