if it's a spool, that just means the lock has a certain type of pin that is intended for security purposes. A spool pin is a common example of this. It is described in many places throughout the forums, as well as in the MIT guide (Chapter 9, I believe). I'm sure someone can verify that is a spool if you provide some info on what type of lock you are working with.
