What's happening. Push pin = positive tension on wrench

When i lift pins 3 and 4 to see how they are, it forces backwards on the tension tool.

I'm trying so hard to visualise why, but i can't understand it.

Anyone got an explanation?

if it's a spool, that just means the lock has a certain type of pin that is intended for security purposes. A spool pin is a common example of this. It is described in many places throughout the forums, as well as in the MIT guide (Chapter 9, I believe). I'm sure someone can verify that is a spool if you provide some info on what type of lock you are working with.

it's basically

an anti pick pin,it puts the lock in a false position
a light touch is needed to manipulate it!

i suggest a boggota pick for starters very effective
against security pins.

a bogotta is by no means a magic wand

but it is indeed an invauable pick that should be owned!

but then after using mine maybe they are magic

Omg, I just made the crappiest looking bogota pick out of wiper wire, and after about 20 seconds it popped the shackle.

Unbelievable feeling, I don't know why, but i feel so pleased with myself.

Hehe, spools are fun,
though you may wish to learn how to pick those spool pins not by raking. it will help you alot in the future when you come across locks you can't rake.
