Good Locksmith Training/Courses in uk

Postby riggers » 19 Nov 2006 16:19

Hi People, Great site,

I currently work for a UPVC glazing firm and everyday we are being asked to change locks/gain entry through damaged locks/ replace old UPVC door locking mechanisms etc etc, there is defiantly a market for a locksmith in our area firstly offering basic services like new/replacement locks/security upgrades. Then maybe start offering the service full time. In the form of 24hr Service. As our free phone number rings at stupid times when people are locked out. We install approx 7 doors a week so the future business is there! Obviously lost keys are not under our guarantee.
Can anybody point me in the right direction for Reputable Locksmith Course? I have been researching them four months now and I’m more confused than when I started.
I would be grateful for any advice/help.

Thanks in advance.

If you are confused on which one, the Foley-Belsaw is highly regarded.

It's not just upvc doors we get calls for it's strange, just because we fit doors customers ring us thinking we can open any/supply keys etc etc

Hi bonez,

We have taught ourselfs to pick euro barrels (mila usually) and then replace the barrell, customers are amazed and pay £45-60 for the priviledge? but on the other hand we meet a different lock every other day and are scratching are heads! If we were able to gain entry (non destructive) there is alot of money to be made through an already respected company. The buzz of opening the locks has given me a new lease of life, When i can't do one i spend all night searched the web to find a method. Hence i found this forum.

what i am looking for is a course that teaches

Entry
Repair
Upgrade
Replace
Service
key cutting (if i had a pound for everytime i got asked his)
ETC

Remenber the locks/mech is factory fitted we just install.

I currentl fit windows/doors and think i may excell at this.
Company is willing to pay for training / tools.
I have read the forum and understand this takes time and experience but i have a great chance to start maybe just with upvc.
