Why is it that if anyone tells it how it is, its classed as being negative ? I did that course too so im not knocking it but lets wait and see if he can actually make it as a fulltime locksmith as most dont. Of all the people on my course only 3 made it and 2 have other trades to full back on so out of a class of 10 thats not many who made it is it ? So 30% succeed and you say we are being negative ?
Lockout work varies from area to area there are no hard and fast rules but most is taken by the nationals due to their huge advertising budgets and marketing. Ive spent about 10k this year on advertising as that is what you need in my area to compete. Sure go part time etc but thats what your up against.

Thanks for all your replies, gratefully recieved and notice taken.
I have wanted to be a locksmith since I left school 15 years ago, but for reasons beyond my control, was unable to take up the trade.
I am lucky to have 2 jobs at the moment, 1 of which is being a children's entertainer ( a clown ).
I have many of the tools required and reccommended on this site for a lockie start-up. I have been collecting for quite a while.
I know that any course will not make me an expert as only experience can give you that credit, but I am looking forward to getting into the trade and I saw many courses on the net and found this course in particular quite appealing.
I have booked the course for April and I will let you know how I get on.
I think at the moment I am a jack-of-all-trades but master of none, I hope to change that one day.

As youve been building up your tools etc you should have a good start but many dont, only the other day someone mentioned selling some stuff so they could afford a £300 training course. When you here things like that you can only cringe as what chance have they got if they cant afford the training ?
I would rather tell it how it is and maybe prevent others from losing their hard earned money. Im not bothered by the new startups around me as ive seen quite a few come and go in the last few years, not many last.

Are you the self appointed God of Locks?
Or did you do a 2 day "God of Locks" Course?
