Picks for non "bonafied members" of locksmithing!?

Postby numeroquatro » 21 Nov 2006 3:43

I am new two lock picking and just picked my second lock today, I also finally decided which pick set I wanted to order.

I was going to order the MPXS-20 from www.lockpicks.com, but I was informed I am not eligable for purchasing Entry Tools.

All lock picking equipment vendors have a 'terms of sale' page that pretty much reads the same, for example:

Buyer Responsibility:
It is the responsibility of the buyer, and not Southern Ordnance, to ascertain and obey all applicable local, state and federal laws in regard to possession and use of any item ordered. Consult your local and state laws before ordering if you are in doubt. Absolutely No Sales To Minors! Therefore, orders paid by money order require proof of age, ie. copy of driver's license or birth certificate. By placing an order, the buyer asserts that the products ordered will be used in a lawful manner and that he/she is of legal age. By placing an order for locksmithing tools, the buyer asserts to be, without fraud or deception, a bonafied member of the locksmithing industry, or other qualified personnel.

This example is www.southernord.com's.

1. Do vendors just have to say this because of liability?
2. Does the site sponsor www.lockpickshop.com sell to people who are not locksmiths?
3. How do I get picks?

I am not a minor and I live in Washington State. Please Help.

if its legel to own them,
you dont plan on stealing any thing,
and have the monny then order them
you should be able

as for minership,
can a parant or a gardian get it for you
if not no picks from there

try making your own

trying to be useful,

i bought a pickset directly from southern ordnance and did by money order, i showed a photocopy of my licene and they had no problem selling to me. and no i am not a member of locksmithing bussiness or a cop etc. it will become your own liabilty si what the wavier is stating. if you pay by other form of payment i dont think there will be any problem at all.

I think the issue here is "washington state" which, if we check the legal FAQ's, seems to have a bit of a legal problem unfortunately.
Oh look! it's 2016!
