Ok - now to embarass myself. I spent all last night trying to pick this little bugger whilst watching television. Didn't care much that i failed - as i was hardly concentrating very hard. Now I've spent all morning trying to get it too - and it won't go. Annoying beacause ity's a cheap little swine.

Seems to be going into anti pick - though I can't believe such a chap and nasty lock has bothered to put in such pins! 6 Pins from what I can count. I'm using the diamond and rake, but the plug keeps moving a little and getting stuck.

Any particular tips for picking these? Heasvy / light touch? Back to front? Front to back? Binding pin? should i use a tension wrench  ?

Ok. I'm sure 2 and 4 are anti pick pins now. There the ones which get me movement. I've been feathering the tension, but no luck. I'm starting to believe the lock is bust  That's my excuse anyway.

All 6 could be spools. Its quite tricky if you are not used to picking locks with security pins, but not to hard. There is a much faster way to open them tho, with a special pick.......

Here are the pins out of a 265

Thanks parapilot. I'll have another fiddle later.

Good luck!

The 265 is not the best lock to practice picking spools. The feedback from them is not to good. I would get something like a master 140 to start with spools.

I find a deep hook works best for the 265, and when the pins feel locked up and false set, ease of on the tention a bit and nudge the pins to try to rase them above the shear line out of the false set. Light tention is the key.
