Best locks.

i have been working with locks and picks for about six months now. its a very rewarding and interesting hobby. i have had to let my neighbor in his own house twice in the past month. HA! most locks are pretty easy to get open but.....i have one that has me stumped. its a Best brand lock. from the bottom it looks like it has two cylinders on it. does anybody have any experiance with these? it is the only one i cant open.

I rather doubt that there are many people using interchangable core locks domestically....
Still, there's plenty of info around here about them.

i have read some info on them. you guys have lots more experiance than i have. in your opinion, are they harder to pick than other locks? or is it just a lack on experiance on my part?

Yes, they are harder to pick, because of the two shear lines it can be difficult to tell which shear line you set a pin at.

Thats why some use a special SFIC wrench that has fingers, it is supposed to increase your chances of picking the pins all to one shear line.

The tolerances are also very tight in an OE Best core. Depending on the keyway, it can also be a PITA to get a pick and tension wrench in.

Only place I've seen them on a large scale Is at work. All the doors and padlocks are bests and all keyed the same. (home depot)

wanted to bring an old one home that the boss' keys didn't work in (an old one that had been forgotten about) but I'm honnest.... ish. oh well.
