It's been 2 days since I got my first pick set and have been able to pick anything I can get my hands on. That's not much right now, but so far it's been the lock to my gun cabinet, 2 doors, and a padlock. It took me a while to actually be able to "pick" them versus raking them, but I've got the hang of that so far. I want to try some more difficult locks, any suggestions? I took an old dead bolt lock that I have and keep changing the pins up so that I'm not working from memory when I practice.
I also made some shims from the tutorial and got a combination lock open that I haven't known the combo for for years
So what are some good locks to get to practice on? I'd like one with security pins for when I get better and one with wafers. Also, I was thinking about ordering one of those locks where you can see the pins from the side. Are they worth investing in or not?
Thanks for your time!
