First go at handcuffs!

So after all the posts on the forums about picking handcuffs i decided to have a go.

Anyway there is no way u can get a hair pin in without bending it to about a 70° angel and they opened right up...

Double locked them took me about 20 seconds on my first attempt and Click the pin at the side popped out and then unlocked the ratchets.

Just wanted to have a quick boast even though its nothing special and wondered if anyone else has had a go at these cuffs?

I didn't get the S&W handcuffs, but mine are similar in keyway placement, and it also has the double locking mechanism. I used the handle from a bullclip, bent one side to about a 135 degree angle and thinned the diameter down, it works great. The angled and thin side is for pushing back the anti-shimming pin and the 90 degree angle is for the actual unlocking. I got a nice bruse on my left wrist from picking them so often over the past few days, they are really fun to pick, I would recommend people to pickup a pair if you have the change.

i can honestly say that if you want to get out of a pair of handcuffs and are reasonably bendy you probably can.

however if they are properly applied you will have a MUCH harder time. this means:

using hinged instead of chain cuffs, properly tightened, double locked behind the waist, with the keyholes both facing up (towards elbows)

if you can pick out of that setup in 20 seconds cudos to you and don't ever tell a cop that.

for large persons, use 2+ pairs.

for fine boned persons use a smaller pair closed properly and double locked.

for high security situations a cover box with a high security padlock will not only prevent access to the padlock keyholes, but tool access with tehhands to the padlock.

LOL i said it was my first go.

They are chained not hinged. that was in front of me with locks facing up (Wrists) but can do behind my back with them loose also with keyway facing wrists now.

Ill work my way up if i can but i doubt i will be able to do tight behind my back facing elbows for a while...

Oh n i wouldn't be telling any cops or using it if i ever get cuffed. just wanted to see how hard it would be. n could be a cool party trick

When I was taught how to apply handcuffs I was told to always put them on behind the suspects back with the keyholes facing the elbows, away from the fingers. This allows others to place their cuffs under mine before I take mine off without bending the suspect into an awkward position.

Just an FYI for those of you trying to make it as "real" as possible.

As i say just doing it to see how hard it is, i have never been arrested and dont intend to be and even if i was it would not be trying to escape from cuffs

getting on'e shands on a cuff cover can be tricky though as a number of places will only sell to the LEO community, but some BDSM specialty shops will carry them.

well when i can pick behind my back properly then ill look in to that.... but seems like a waste of cash before. alot of this hobby seems to be learning to walk before you try to run

hey, i had a pair when i was ten and picked them all the time. if any of you guys want a pair of handcuffs with more of a challange, get a pair of proper English ones. if you can master them, then your better then me. i had a pair on behind my back and i couldnt even turn my hands to pick them. everytime i tried they just got tighter.

different varieties of handcuffs used in europe that are not the american style. iirc in france and germany will look them up in a bit. www.handcuffs.org i think has a good collection (if i'm recallign their site correctly)
