No its not, if it costs any more than a few dollars its too expensive as well,

Its tension wrench not a pick unless you get a bit of rod with it as well to push the pins down,

It would work but it is a genuine POS. I agree with shrub.

It's not as good as it looks but it does work. It comes with a cheap looking tool to push the pins. I think I put a scan of it here somewhere on this site if you want to try to make one. Once you make the tension wrench you can use a regular tension wrench as the pick.

Hi

jimb is right you would be just as-well making one because there is nothing much to them. i made the mistake of getting the set some time ago a waste of money i think. you would be better of putting the money towards a dremel and making your own. that way when you've found out for your self how it works you still got a useful tool to hand with the dremel.

Made mine out of a 12" hacksaw blade - and used a grinder to shape it. Save your money!

Any chance you could repost that scan? I would also like to make my own out of hacksaw blade but my search-fu turned up nothing relevant when searching for a scan or template of one.

Thanks, Phil.

I spend about 20 minutes trying to find the thread and also came up empty. So here it is again.

It has a couple of warded picks on the ends. The square tab in the middle sits in the notch in the lock and the pointed side grabs the side and allows you to apply tension. The gap between the tabs and points measures 3/16 of an inch on one side and 1/4 of an inch on the other. This helps if the point is in the way of a pin then you just flip it over and use the other side.

Thanks! Looks like it may be wider than a hacksaw blade... I'll see once i get it to print out the right size and see what I can come up with... should be able to make it fit and still work.

That wrench is indeed wider than a standard hacksaw blade - I only made the one side on mine.
