Electric E100HO Pick yes or no?

Postby cybus » 29 Nov 2006 13:34

Hello, im a newly qualified Locksmith in the UK. Most of my lockouts are UPVC euro cylinders which I either open using a snapper and eva universal key or a "Bell" cylinder puller, both of which are great tools. I have found manual picking of these cylinders is a bit hit or miss for me, so a while back I bought a manual pick gun which I have never had success with. I then got to thinking what about an electric pick gun such as E100HO ELECTRIC PICK (4.5 VOLT) available from Devon Locks U.K. Would this make the experience alot easier or is there still alot of skill needed to operate these types of electric picks. I think its always better for the customer to see you unlock the cylinder rather than you destroy it. Your thoughts please, should I buy or not ?

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO

Leave the SO one alone, look at the HPC one for the average one then the Wendt for the better one, both have problems and arent perfect but are way way far better than the SO ones,

You really should get into hand picking first, start on the bench and start with the easy locks, practice practice practice is the name of the game,

A electric pick is used by many lockies but yes they do require some practice and skill to use efficently without damageing the lock,

Look into the HPC and Wendt versions but get practiceing on your hand skills as much as possable,

They are different makes of gun. Can be been here

http://www.multipick.com/index_en.php?mode=elite

Wendt is the best performing but most expensve, but if you are a lockey relying on it worth the extra.

And if a lockie dont buy off devonlocks go through a supplyer and set up an account.

Shrub,

Why don't you like the SouthOrd pick gun?

I admit I have never owned one, but several people have said its a nice tool. Do you have other experiences?
