Today I saw a few offers for secondhand locks that I just couldn't resist. This lock retails at $80 brand new, and someone offered it to be for $10. I couldn't say no, even though I knew I probably couldn't pick it since I've had no experience with mushrooms.

Being rekeyable, I thought I could do my usual 1..2..3..etc pins in the cylinder work. Turns out I need a certain Cylinder Removal Tool to begin rekeying. It looks like a simple piece of flat metal. Does anyone have any experience on this? Can I use a feeler gauge for the job?

The page you posted shows you everything you need to know.

If you have rekeyed any locks before, this is the same, except for the cylinder removal which can be acomplished via a hook pick, or any other small piece of metal.

After that, just rekey, and reinstall.

My main problem is removing the cylinder. Where exactly do i push the removal tool? I'll take a photo tomorrow if it helps.

Take a good look at that link you posted.

It shows both the removal tool, and where to insert it.

Now, based on the size of the tool, which you can surmise based on the photograph, and the picture which shows you where to insert the tool, you should be able to find the retaining mechanism with a pick if you simply probe a bit for it.

Got it. I wasn't about to let my lovely picks touch the grimy insides of the lock so I used a hair pin instead.

I've taken a few photos and will upload them in a day or two in case someone else has trouble with the Diskus.
