If you are willing to open the door panel, and do some mechanical work to the truck, this one is simple, and hides very easily.
Use come wire, such as the braided type that you hang pictures with, or you can also use a shielded cable similar to an emergency brake cable.
It needs to be long enough to reach from the lock mechanism inside the door all the way to the front grill of the truck.
Attach the cable or wire to the locking mechanism, and thread it through the door and out the rubber boot that holds wires from the inside of the truck to the door.
From this point, run the wire or cable through the inside fender well, and out to the front grill. You can use small screw eyes to keep the cable properly routed, and out of the way of the engine, and other hoses and wires. Install a secure pull ring about the size of a key ring on the grill end of the wire, Be sure that the wire is accessable through the grill, but hidden from sight.
Now, if you lose your key, you can pretend you are looking at something in the grill, pull the cable or wire, and release the locking mechanism in the door.
The wire could also be routed into the wheel well, and still hidden from sight. If you choose this direction, be sure it is completely out of the way of the axel, and the suspension. There is nothing worse than having a wire wrapped around your axel or CV joint.
Its simple, low tech, and takes about two hours for removal of the inside door pannel and routing of the wire or cable.
Good luck,
Romstar

First off, hello everyone. This is my first post so a little about me. I have been married for about 12 years and have an 8 year old daughter. I’m an independent contractor for Lowes and do my own stuff in between jobs. Every since I can remember I have always been the type of person who has to take something completely apart, see how it works, and understand it before I can use it. I love making things, designing them, and building stuff. If there is something I don’t know how to do or don’t understand it, first thing I do is start researching it, learn it, understand it, and keep at it until I master it or am the best I can be at it. I’m sure I just described “a lot†of you on here just now. Every morning I get up and while drinking my cup of coffee I sit behind the computer and play a bit. Several mornings ago I seen a video of a guy showing how a lock works and how it’s picked. I guess you know what happened after that. Made some picks and after picking every lock I own I realized this is a perfect hobby for me. I also think this might be something I would like to get into full time as a job later. Anyway it goes this “is†something I can use. My brother-in-law, dad, aunt, etc all have rental properties. I am pretty much the maintains man for all of them. Just with in the last month I had to get into 3 properties because of tenants changing lock and taking keys with them. I also install probably a dozen or more locks/deadbolts in a month’s time and it helps to understand how they work and the quality of them too. So it looks like if you guys will have me, ill be moving in with ya’ll for a while and gathering as much information I can and making as many tools as I can. I probably will never use half the stuff I make but I will at least have them if I ever do need them. Plus I love making the tools.

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Cheers,
UWSDWF

Hello,
I've been to the site a couple times in the past, but just joined today. I like to build things and repair things, usually computer repair or automotive. I also like metalworking (wish I had a machine shop), woodworking, even sewing hunting/fishing/hiking gear.
I am 29, but remember being a little kid (20 or more years ago... wow...) and watching my grandfather unlock the bathroom door with a nail... I guess that was when I got "hooked".
I post semi-regularly on the forums at www.thehighroad.org and www.shotgunworld.com with this username. I am also on www.myspace.com .

I'm new here, and ever since making a shim out of old vhs tape internals, i've been hooked. Don't have much to say, just thought my first post should be here.

New here as well. Not a locksmith, just an honest soul with an inquiring mind.
I picked locks when I was younger but have since lost my interest in playing with them.
Safes. Thats my current interest. Also opened a few by touch, but that was decades ago as well. Alway had an extraordinary sense of touch. In my youth, I could go through a deck of cards, face down, and sort them according to red or black inks. Red ink felt different to me. (Those days are long gone.)
Recent circumstances allowed a safe to follow me home one day, hence my renewed concentration on the subject.
Unfortunately, I can't get into the safe forum here.
Dave McOmie told me tonight that next time I'm in Portland that he'd open it for a Starbucks coffee.
.
I am NOT an evil genius

Glad to be here. You would not think a doctor may be interested in lockpicking but I am. Mostly I am a lurker, I just wanted to officially say hi! I found this forum from another lockpicking forum. Look forward to my visits here.
THE DOCTOR IS IN!
