best i-core tension

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

best i-core tension

Postby GoodEyeSniper313 » 4 Dec 2006 21:40

would it be possible to use small hook ended tension wrench to reach in the bottom of a best lock and hook a hole on the bottom of the control sleeve and pull out for tension?
"you cant just grind a hacksaw blade down and expect to pick locks with it" quote from my friend in the 10th grade when i first tried picking a lock

On one of the previous postings I saw that someone designed a very simple wire (paperclip?) type tension wrench with a single small dog-leg to hook into one of the holes.
It would seem to be a simple solution--I don't think it matters if you have six protrusions on a tension wrench providing torque on the core, or a single leg.

Pulling out likely wont help much.

As far as having more than one leg, it is to reduce your tendancy to not properly tension the sleeve. one leg will have a tendency to put the sleeve in an akward bind and not apply full rotational tension.

Hope that makes sense.

pulling out

Postby raimundo » 5 Dec 2006 14:54

pulling out won't help much on a best core, as they have an end cap that is riveted on, the tolerances on this lock are also very tight. however, pulling out on a looser type of lock will create a second dimension to the step that the top pins hang up on so it could be a useful idea as an addition to turning tension, but not usefull on its own.
