Nope thats the old Falle pin decoder,

The one youve heard about was goverment restricted but hes made another one in a differant syle that leaves the old one standing hence why its now de-restricted and lockies can buy it, its not as expensive as that from some places either,

Theres pics of that tool in the advanced section and i suggest discussion of it is left for there,

Before you ask, no im not explaining the new tool here :P

Bump wrote:Hate to pour custard over your gravy but I believe this idea has already been patented by SV. Never seen the tool but it works on the principle of thin wires entering each individual pin stack and calibrating the height of the bottom pin from which you can then produce a make-up key.

Fiendishly expensive (about £5000 at the last time of hearing) notoriously difficult to use and liable to damage from anyone other than a very delicate operator.

Could be an urban myth though!

The decoder you are talking about is a totally different animal. The process we are talking about is decoding a PICKED lock. The old falle tool decodes the lock without picking and has several problems in use on certain locks.

As Shrub said, further discussion of how these tools work is only for the advanced forum.

Sorry to say good idea but it wont work for my application, the distance between the top and bottom cut is greater than the warding allows im afraid, that is theres no room for the sliders or a pin etc, should still work on a differant lock however just not the one i need to decode tomorrow
