Getting desperate!!! $US40 on offer

OK, I am desperate I have 2 weeks lefts to finish my book and I cannot get a MIWA EC cylinder from anywhere, it seems. I have a bad quality photo of this lock in my book but it needs fixing to higher resolution. I have emailed quite a few Japanese locksmiths but they either don't reply, don't speak English, or don't have the lock I'm after. No luck on ebay either (though there's plenty of pictures of some Japanese woman called Miwa something).

The lock I am looking for looks like this:

(Note the key photo is OK, but the lock isn't, nor are the break down photos.)

Here it is: I will pay US$40 (not including p&p) to the first person to reply and settle a deal for this type of lock and key, or any equivalent Miwa EC rim cylinder, cam lock, etc. It has to be in good shape since it's for photos and it has to have at least 7 of the magnetic tumblers. I need the lock - photos won't do since there may be copyright issues.

Loans, of course, are also OK

heh i doubt have the lock but the lock looks very interesting, magnetic pins? i might have too look more into this lock

It's going to be called "High Security Locks" (or something similar) but the title is in a state of flux and might change. It's not an e-book. I believe that the publisher usually makes e-versions available on line to people who buy their printed books.

hey grey. I know you stated that this is a published work that is your livelihood. However, I wanted to ask if you have any writings that were not going to make it into the book (your publisher is probably going to ask you to slash things out, they do this frequently), so I was wondering if you would like to contribute these cut chapters (aka, deleted scenes) into the creative commons?

I'm sure every bit of your material is original, researched, and cited work. It would be a crime for any of it not to reach the public eye. Even trivial material.

I'm not sure if you have access to advanced forums but there's some news there. It is not specifically aimed at professional lockies but hopefully should still be interesting. Definitely not about servicing, picking etc. More about how locks work and the similarities/differences between them. A bit about codes/key series. A bit of history and some interesting older locks. Lots of modern locks - all key operated, no combo, no digital.
The draft is around 580 pages with many photos. Due out around mid 07 but I'll take a rain check on that when I see how quick the publisher can turn it over.
