cant imagine a plastic folder to be strong enough for much good. I would have thought it to be way to flexible. Not the ones we have here anyway... But feel free to prove me wrong.
An old credit card could be interesting.
do you want to post some pics to get us thinking pip?

I suppose some of you have seen those plastic ford ignition blanks, can anyone tell me what they were thinking when they manufactured them? I cant think of any use for them but I still run into them from time to time. someone tell me what the concept is

Not the really tiny backup keys that are small and designed to fit in a wallet, or purse are they? I'm not sure if ford uses them or not....

If not for that, then I have no idea.

They are a template. Normally stampped with the key code as well.

You can have a duplicate key made that will open your doors in case of lockout. Either by code, or by carefully using the template in a duplicator. For older vehicles without transponders, it would also start your car.

Yes as Rom said they are an emergency key for either the dealer to make new keys or for the owner to drive to the dealer for new keys, they were phased out with the advent of transponder keys as far as i know,

hey i just had a breakthrough guys...

looking through the shed for sheet metal for picks/wrenches... and on the bench was some REAL old welding rods. They were kinda rusty on one end and the flux had flaked off a bit. Underneath was a solid thickish wire. I thought that if people used nails for tension wrenches then i would give these a go... Using the wire brush on the grinder, it takes just a few seconds to take all the flux off. Just hammer one end down a bit, this is relatively easy as its pretty malleable, but not weak at all. I get four wrenches a rod. This stuff is amazing. It comes in 5kg packs and Im not sure on price as Ive never bought any but a quick look on trade me was about 20-30$nz for a 5 kilo box. The box of rod I had was 2.5 mm im pretty sure. You dont need to heat it to bend it and in a lock it acts very simular to a allen key.Brilliant stuff...

I now officially have more tension wrenches than picks 8)

So everyone run to where-ever you keep your stash of welding rods NOW and get busy :D
