My first pick

Postby rok9 » 9 Dec 2006 16:56

I just got my southord 14 set and tried them out. The first half hour was very discouraging, but after changing positions on how I hold the picks and vary pressures for each lock, I was able to open several padlocks repeatedly. I opened a Castle, a couple Master Lock no.3's and brass no.140. A Belwith, and small brass Samsonite luggage locks (high quality ones) had to use a dental pick for it. I couldn't open a brass abus that I had no key for, and I think might be frozen.

So I was thinking this is pretty easy, whats the big deal.

Then I tried to open our Schlage front door and all the air out of my ballon  I am not even close to feeling what's going on inside that lock. So I guess I'll search the forum and look for tips.

Welcome,
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.

If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).

Cheers,

Good idea, I didn't think about that. I am about ready to take off the locking door between my house and garage and change it to a non locking. My 2 year old keeps running up to the door when I go out in the garage and locks me out of the house!

I'd also like to welcome you to the forums.
And I agree with JackNco. You seem to be doing very well.
Just keep in mind what it takes to survive in this sport, Patience wins all.
