Wanted to officially say hi.
I have been lurking on this site for a while (2 wks actively) and want to get serious about the sport. So far I have made two picks out of hacksaw blades using my dremel (a rake and a hook pick), not the easiest thing to do (never done fab work before and first time using dremel) but I do still have all of my fingers And I finally picked my first official lock (not a built in cabinet lock) although it was only a masterlock I could still feel the pins lifting into place.
I want to say thank you to everybody that has posted templates in the forums.

Welcome everybody,
For all thoes new to the site and lockpicking, LP101 is a great place to start.
Take a look at the new users section, first and don't be afraid to ask any questions just remember to try a search before posting.
If you're looking for locks to pick, buy some but, DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON
I repeat DO NOT PICK LOCKS YOU RELY ON, they can and will break, then your house/car/safe/chasity belt is vulnerable or unable to be opened (think: emergency situation).
Cheers,
UWSDWF

Hey, new here, been reading some of your guys' paper and all of it has been really good. Hoping to read some more and eventually start applying some of this info to the actual sport.
Great site, I hope to be sticking around for a while.

Hey everyone, I R New. I was trying to come up with an avatar that impressed on the mind a sense of affinity for a picking a lock. Not that I have that at this point, but it's something I aspire towards.
So BrassHands was the best I could come up with. NOTE: My hands are NOT actually made from brass.
They're more of a cromoly alloy-type blend.
Anyway, sorry, I lose track sometimes. Thanks for the info on the site so far. I've made a couple of picks (a small half diamond and a small lifter I think they're called), and some tension wrenches from the templates and information provided here. I needed new wipers for my car anyway. I bought a no-name brass padlock (I ~think~ 4 pins) from Wal-M*rt, and succeeded in picking it by luck within about 20 seconds. Now I'm working on the skilled way.
I rant! I'm going now! See you all in the forums!

Hey all, just signed up here myself.
Got the info about this place from the Locksport guide to lockpicking, I'm quite brand new to this, intent on learning mostly for enrichment (what can I say, I love learning for the sake of learning). Definitely looking forward to gleaning knowledge from here

Been lurking for around 3 weeks having found this site from the LSI guide,
Have made some picks (half diamond, couple of hooks and bogota's) and followed the Digital Blue beginners programme and just picked (single pin) my ERA barrel will all five pins in for the first time last night!
Still can't get my abus 60/40 padlock though but am reading up on spool pins etc.
Thanks for a great and inspiring website.

...signed up two days ago, just felt like adding lock picking to my list of odd skills haha
My friends think I'm destined to be a secret agent haha (html/java--which somehow relates to hacking in everybody's view--karate, tae kwon do, fencing, french, spanish, english, chinese, and working on some other languages right now haha, supposedly, I have my way with boys (ughh even though I've still yet to find that boy... *sigh* contradiction? I'm still not convinced that's even a skill psshhh...) and a bunch of other useless (or perhaps now useful?) skills... and now lock-picking ahaha...
...and still 15 and CAN'T DRIVE YET. UGH. Haha so we'll see how that goes.
Umm... non-secret agent hobbies lol:
piano, flute, guitar, love writing and poetry, snowboarding, ice skating, dance (ballroom n acro), debate, idk, some more random things
I'd really like to talk to... someone. Not to say that I don't love my friends but... It's nice talking to someone new. So if we have anything in common... IM me (sweetxnaivete: aim) ...please don't be creepy.
