got large amounts of street sweeper bristles

When it comes down to it there is nothing better than manual tools for your Lock pick Set, whether they be retail, homebrew, macgyver style. DIY'ers look here.

just went online and went to a supplier site where u can buy broom's for like 40 bucks max. or u can get the mini ones that are like 16 US?

im guessing there's about atleast 100 somethin bristles on each broom for the sweeper?

if anyone can shed a little insight on this do so, this is just a theory

Are you talking about one of those curb brushes that come out the side of a sweeping machine? the flat steel bristles because thats the one you want for pick making

sweeper bristles

Postby raimundo » 12 Sep 2006 7:42

there are actually two types of sweeper bristles, the familiar one from the big municipal machines, and a bristle of a smaller dimension in width and thickness that is from those much smaller machines that are used in some parking lots, the bristles from these are also useful, I have some homemade tubular lockpicks in which these are the sliders, so if ROC is going to buy a brush, he should be careful that it is off the more generally useful larger machine unless he intends to make small picks for tiny locks or a lot of tubular lockpicks.

I'd appreciate a link too, I might buy one if it's only $40 bucks for that many bristles. And Raimundo, what do your tubular picks look like? any chance of you posting a picture?

Hmm..this thread is a little old, but to answer the question the standard size is 025x 125 x26” and is oil tempered.

I work for a city...I will check at the garage and see how worn they are before they replace them. Even short ones would work for us I'm sure.
