any ideas what brand?

Noticed a few of these in passing....



and wondered what brand. Looks old, cheap and low quality. Had one or two where part of the casting on the snib had broken off internally so that the rocking action no longer works (and therefore no longer acts as the holdback).

Any still around as new? I guess not, but what brand of today's locks seem to offer best replacement if anyone has had to do this? Forgot to measure but reckon 40mm. What about Yale 706 (though pricey).

The cylinder keyway should give it away. Very common on Ally doors.

The cylinder said Allgood but as we know, cylinders can be changed over the years leaving the latch in situ. Do you think it is Allgood?

I should have said.......the cylinder on the one i took the photo of said Allgood.

I have seen one on an ali door recently, but since that was not what i was called to deal with, i didnt notice if that cylinder was also Allgood.

Not Allgood though may have been rebranded. It's a well known UK manufacturer.
Normally the original cylinder would not be marked. You'd have to recognise the keyway

Its a Gibbons 2000NSB nightlatch or a yale 85BX
the lipless metal door versions are no longer made.
But a Yale 706 or 84 can be made to fit
both from M E Duffell
