Need Some Help!!

I bought a business almost two years ago and i had these two arcade machines collecting dust in the back room, now there old games and they have no keys , i dont want to waste money on paying a locksmith to open them. Now i dont understand any of the lingo but i do know its a 7 pin tubular lock but other then that im a newb.

But i researched and seen that i need a tool but i was hoping maybe with a little indepth explaining in simpler terms i can understand then maybe i can pick it with lots of practice cuz there gonna just sit there anyway!!

There is 3 ways you can deal with this problem. " tubular lock on video arcade machines "

1.) Take a Crow bar and pull the door open slowly, this will bend the lock and you will have to replace it.

2.) Buy a tubular lock drill bit and drill out the tubular lock, This will also mean that you would need to replace the lock after you opened the machines.

3.) Buy a tubular lock 7 pin pick and spend alittle time picking the lock open, after wards you will need a decoder to make a new key Or again replace the lock

*** any way you are going to have to spened a few bucks to get the job done. I would say Call a locksmith get the job done and keep your hands clean.... But that's my opinion ***

Well i want them open so my friends and me that put money into them, can get it out aswell as in the future!

Ok thx dude about the info but i was hoping it would be easier,
but i guess nothing is, but maybe ill look into that pick and just fool around.
It isnt really worth it to get a locksmith unless there a friend cuz i asked three and they all said $200-$300 can. and thats just to much for nothing really but fun!!

If all you need is to get it open once and then decode it to get a key made, I'd say buy a old, brass handle style tubular pick from South Ord. Their probably cheap. They were discontinued because the little 'tension nub' wore out fast, but if you only need it once, why not. I dont how much they go for know, but I got mine from southord for only $20 because it was discontinued.

All else fails, you CAN pick them with regular picks....it just takes forever!!

im sure with a little explaination with some practice ill get it

I would hope that you do get the Instructions. But if not I have posted Instructions befor to others and will share them again if needed. And yes as always practice , practice , practice ....

if you are just using the arcade machines for personal use why not just pry them open with a crow bar and leave them open.

grind the face off of the lock

all tubular locks have this weakness no matter what the security is.

you grind and the pins leap out.

you can sit there and pick it with an allean wrench and a pin biut you gotta repick it as many times as it has pins to get a full rotation

you spend a pile a money to get one of those tubular lock tools.

i say just get a metal rasp and grind the face right off it

I just want to open it and take the lock, cuz the key guy down the street will charge me 7 dollars to make a key if i bring in the chuck!

Plus my friends are convincing me to make a retro games room in my restaurant in a room not used for open use like a after hours!!
the games are pacman and 1942 and my bro in law is giving me a galaga machine and a pinpall machine!
So ill try someting but not damaging it in any case unless i can do it in a way were i just go buy a new lock without damaging the machines!

For what its worth, I think HeadHunterCEO is on the right track. It would be the easiest way for you to go without the proper tools. Chances are you can just replace it with a cheap wafer cam-lock available at most hardware stores.

I feel that HeadHunterCEO has a way of opening the machines; but grinding the face off of the lock without knowing what you are doing could damaging the machines. With most arcade machines the lock sets in on the door face. So with grinding the lock you most likly will hit the door face and cause damaging.

Now the easiest way and cheapest, without LockSmith Tools is...

1.) Take a Crow bar and pull the door open slowly, this will bend the lock and you will have to replace it.

Or even using a Tire bar from your car.
